Establishing quality gates within the bank’s accelerated Agile work environment.

Our team implemented a comprehensive quality engineering framework and quality gates to support the implementation of the bank’s new savings onboarding platform. 

Client Context

To support their transformation objectives, the bank was developing a new savings onboarding platform. Whilst initially utilising the agile methodology across five sprints, formal testing was omitted as part of delivery. This raised concerns about the platform's robustness and reliability. Recognising the need for structured quality assurance and engineering, the client engaged Zanoo to deliver high-quality testing services and implement a comprehensive quality engineering framework.

Our Approach

Zanoo’s role was to integrate rigorous testing and quality benchmarking to ensure the platform's performance and security before launch. This was supported by our deep knowledge and subject matter expertise of the UK Challenger Bank market. The Zanoo team delivered comprehensive manual and automated testing services, including performance testing to ensure system readiness. The team ensured ongoing stakeholder engagement with client and supplier teams, to align requirements, integrate tools and address quality issues. Test management tools such as Xray were introduced for accurate and transparent test management and requirement traceability purposes. Agile best practices and optimised workflows enabled alignment between development and testing efforts. As part of delivery, the Zanoo team created robust test plans and scripts, established quality gates to ensure high-quality code was deployed and utilised automation for faster, benchmarked regression testing.

Zanoo acted as independent testing partner for the bank, managing and performing all phases of testing, including System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing. Our approach in this engagement involved performing a wide-array of testing capabilities.

Our Solution

  • Test Management: Established the direction for testing through creation of the Test Strategy and Test Plans, as well as clear, continual progress reporting via the Jira dashboard. Given the scrum-based Agile environment, the Test Manager also provided Defect Management to support prompt fix and re-testing of issues found.


  • Functional Testing: Implemented Agile best practices by moderating sprints and optimising workflows for seamless integration of testing. Our team rapidly analysed requirements, created actionable test plans, and developed comprehensive test cases and scripts. We delivered timely test reports and conducted focused regression testing to ensure application stability and quick issue resolution.


  • Non-Functional Testing: Assessed performance, security, and usability to ensure the application met benchmarks, remained secure, and provided a seamless user experience under various conditions.


  • Automation Testing: Utilised Cypress for end-to-end testing, creating reusable scripts for consistent and rapid regression testing. Established Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines on a cloud-based solution to streamline and expedite testing, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.



  • Continuous Improvement and Feedback Integration: The Zanoo team provided advisory through conducting systematic reviews of the testing process to pinpoint areas for enhancement and optimise testing strategies.  Similarly, the team continuously collected and incorporated feedback from stakeholders to refine test approaches and ensure they align with evolving business goals.

The Outcome

Working collaboratively with key client stakeholders and their suppliers, we delivered high-quality testing and established rigorous testing quality gates that ensured the project was completed on time and with no production bugs. The bank successfully implemented a high-quality savings onboarding platform in 2024, with customers successfully pledging their deposits through the platform since launch. The Zanoo team continues to test new features as they are introduced, ensuring smooth integration with each release. In particular, the Zanoo team delivered:
